Chief minister (CM) Prithviraj Chavan chaired a meeting with elected representatives and officials of the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) and Pimpri Chinchwad New Town Development Authority (PCNTDA) in Mumbai on Thursday.

The CM is understood to have assured regularisation of the extended construction of dwellings in the PCNTDA, returning 12.5% land to farmers and approve a proposal to desilt the Pavana, Indrayani and Mula rivers.

Deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar, Pimpri-Chinchwad civic chief commissioner Ashish Sharma, PCNTDA chief executive officer Suhas Divase and Pimpri-Chinchwad mayor Yogesh Behl and others attended the meeting.

The move will fulfil a demand of Nigdi residents, who wanted the government to regularise the extended constructions.

The extended constructions were made in housing schemes in Sectors 21 (Yamunanagar), 25 and 27 A.
