PCMC rubbishes charge of water weed

The PCMC has rubbished the allegations regarding the problem of water weed. Its chief medical officer, Dr Nagkumar Kunchagi, told DNA that to control the menace, the PCMC has appointed a private agency.

“Every year the PMC, without any verification, makes such baseless allegations on the issue,” Kunchagi said, adding that the PCMC had not received any letter from PMC on the issue so far. 

Ward D officer, PH Zure — in whose jurisdiction Bopodi, Dapodi, Sangvi areas fall — said, “If the PMC had doubts regarding our intentions, they could have got in touch with me. The PCMC is doing its job well. Only a part of the Mutha river flows through PCMC jurisdiction. How can the PMC allege that the PCMC is responsible for the problem?”
