Parents donate eyes of dead Pune NDA cadet

In a noble gesture, the grieving parents of K Vignesh, a National Defence Academy (NDA) cadet, who died following cardiac arrest on January 7, have donated his eyes.

Vignesh (19), a third-term cadet of the NDA, died in the early hours of Saturday. Hailing from Chennai, he was part of Bravo Squadron of the 125th course of the academy.

Vignesh collapsed after a routine training run on Friday evening and was shifted to the Military Hospital’s cardio-thoracic centre in Lullanagar on Friday night.

A press statement from the NDA on Monday stated that Vignesh’s funeral was held at Mukti Dham crematorium near Golibar Maidan on Sunday morning with full military honours. It was attended by family members and senior officers of the NDA.
