National Highway 3 work to derail Central Railway services on Wednesday

The timetable of outstation and suburban trains is likely to go for a toss on Wednesday and Sunday as Central Railway’s (CR) traffic blocks on Kalyan and Igatpuri sections to facilitate construction work on National Highway 3 are implemented.

Many trains have been cancelled, partially cancelled and rescheduled to facilitate the block. An official statement released by the CR said, “(The) Central Railway will operate 2 special traffic blocks on Kalyan-Igatpuri section for launching of PSC girders for Asangaon Road Over Bridge in connection with widening of existing 2 lane carriage ways to 4/6 lane configuration of National Highway No. 3.”

The block will be operated on both the up and down lines between Khardi and Vasind railway stations from 2.50pm to 4.35pm on Wednesday as well as on Sunday.

Outstation trains which have been rescheduled include the Mumbai-Aurangabad Janshatabdi Express. It will now leave Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (CST) at 3.35pm; the Lokmanya Tilak Terminus-Manmad Godavari Express will leave LTT at 4.10pm and the Mumbai-Nagpur Sewagram Express will leave CST at 3.50pm.

National Highway 3 (NH3) or the Mumbai-Agra Highway, is a 1,000km-long national highway that runs through several western and northern states, connecting Maharashtra with Uttar Pradesh.
