ccording to the police, the 21-year-old victim is four months pregnant, and was advised by her husband to drink coconut juice. The husband directed Shaikh to deliver coconut juice to his residence for a fortnight.

“Since the past eight days, Shaikh used to deliver coconut juice regularly. Recently, the victim had asked Shaikh not to deliver the juice for a few days,” said a police officer from the Nagpada police station.

Shaikh then confessed his love for the victim, saying he didn’t like accepting money from her for the coconuts and was even ready to die for her. When she resisted, he threatened her with a knife. The victim managed to trick the vendor into leaving by saying that she loved him back but was afraid of her husband.
