Mumbai's stinking big problem caused by garbage vehicles

Mumbai is facing a stinking problem due to the lack of vehicles to collect garbage from the collection centres.

As a result of this, heaps of garbage is getting accumulated at many corners in the city.

Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has issued show cause notice to two contractors for not plying garbage vehicles. The vehicles provided by contractors are not in a condition to function in 11 wards.

In Ghatkopar, the BMC has shut 262 rounds of the dumpers due to non-availability of dumpers.

BMC has slapped notices to Antony Waste Handlers and JWC, the contractors who provide the dumpers and garbage compactor to BMC,” said Rahul Shevale, standing committee chairman.
