The city fire brigade does not have a single water refilling station of its own. It completely depends on the hydraulic department’s water filling stations, and this results in a delay in reaching fire spots.

The fire brigade fills water at stations at Nana Chowk, LBS Marg (Ghatkopar), Andheri and Shivaji Park. However, the one at Shivaji Park is a private station.

The fire brigade also uses water hydrants. However, most of them are defunct and have disappeared because of road and footpath relaying works.

Congress corporator Rajendraprasad Chaube said: “If the water filling stations are within the fire brigade’s zonal offices, it will be able to reduce the response time and douse fires quickly. I will raise this issue in the upcoming BMC meeting.”
