An 85-year-old priest of a temple in Sion was arrested for allegedly excreting inside the temple premises.
A case was registered after devotees brought it to the police’s notice by producing CCTV images after the temple management failed to take action against him.
The accused, Omia Shankar, has been performing prayers at the temple for the past 40 years. This is not the first time the accused has caught for this. It was reportedly brought to the management’s notice but they refused to believe it. “It’s sad that the person (priest) who is given the task of maintaining the temple’s sanctity is spoiling it,” said Sameer Kakairde, a devotee.
