Concerned over the health of most of the policemen, particularly those from the lower-rungs, Mumbai police chief plans to grade the ailing colleagues, based on their health reports and deploy them accordingly.

Responding to a question, the police chief Arup Patnaik said, "I am going through the health condition of several cops. There are 20,000 or so, who will be graded based on their health conditions."

"Healthy cops will be graded and brought under Green category, while those in bad health condition, will be brought under the Amber colour category. Cops in critical health condition will be brought under the Red colour category," Patnaik said.

The city police has a strength of 40,000 personnel, of which, 50% of the force is facing something or the other health related issues. Many of them are constables who are suffering from heart attacks, obesity, stress, smoking habits, high BP and diabetes, indicating that they are not physically fit.

Based on this report, he would deploy these personnel in different locations in the metropolis, so that, it would not affect the work as well as cop's health, the commissioner added.
