Investigating agencies from the state and the Centre have started scanning the CCTV footage that they have collected from shops near the three blast sites. They have made 11 CDs out of the CCTV footage collected from the three sites.

The duration of the video footage is said to be long, and so investigators are taking time to check all the videos.

Several copies have been made of the CDs, which are being checked by teams of the Anti Terrorism Squad (ATS) and the Mumbai Crime Branch along with central agencies like the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and officials of the state and central intelligence.

According to officials from the Union ministry of home affairs (MHA), the video footage will be checked and scanned with the help of local people from the three localities where the blasts took place. Investigators will try to identify the faces of the people who had frequented the areas before the blasts on that day. They will try and pick out suspicious-looking people for further leads.

Areas like Zaveri Bazaar and Opera House are business hubs, and most of the people know each other either by face or by name. Also, the CCTV footage may help investigators get leads about the planters who had placed bombs near vehicles in areas like Zaveri Bazaar and Opera House.

Teams from the Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL) and the post-blast investigation team of the National Security Guard (NSG) are also carrying out investigations to get details about explosives and the technology used in the making of the bombs.

Though the investigations are still on, agencies are clueless about which group was behind the blasts. Teams of the NIA and the ATS, along with the Mumbai Crime Branch and intelligence agencies, are trying to identify the signature of the blasts but haven’t been successful yet.
