Youth 4 Panun Kashmir (Y4PK), under the aegis of Panun Kashmir, has organised its first International Kashmiri Pandit Youth Conference in city this weekend to reach out to Kashmiri youths who are losing their cultural links with the state.

The conference will be held at Yashwantrao Chavan Natyagruha, Kothrud on January 7 and 8. The announcement was made by Rahul Kaul, the chief coordinator of the conference, on Thursday.
He said, “The event is being held in Pune as the city has traditionally played an important role in Kashmiri Pandit community’s struggle. Maharashtra has been the first state to provide educational and professional opportunities to the youth of Kashmiri exiled community post the exodus in 1989/90.’’

Rahul laid an emphasis on the objectives of the conference and explained that it has been organised to consolidate and connect the Kashmiri Pandit diaspora’s youths with their roots, traditions and legacy.

The conference will lay specific emphasis on creating the youths’ sensitivity and responsibility towards national issues. It will seek to identify avenues for the youth to contribute to society. It will also initiate a renaissance movement for preserving the rich cultural heritage of the community and will lay a foundation to prepare  future leaders.

Exhibitions and cultural programmes shall be a hallmark of this conference.

Sarla Taploo, wife of Late Pt Tika Lal Taploo, (highly revered leader of the community who became a martyr) will be the chief guest during the inauguration. Prominent personalities from industry, theatre, politics, culture, and various other organisations shall grace the occasion.
