A 28-year-old man jumped to his death from a 30-storey tower in Tardeo on Wednesday afternoon. The deceased has been identified as Jignesh Shah, a resident of Nana Chowk in south Mumbai.

“Shah worked in a diamond merchant’s firm at Opera House,” said inspector Mohan Waghmare of Tardeo police station. Waghmare said they haven’t found any suicide note.

The incident took place around 1.50pm at Enterprises Tower, opposite Bhatia Hospital in Tardeo.

Shah told the watchman of the building that he was there to meet his grandfather N Dani who lives on the first floor. A few minutes later, the watchman saw something fall followed by a loud noise.

When he went to check, he found Shah in a pool of blood, his skull smashed and his legs broken. He then called the police, who in turn rushed Shah to Nair Hospital where he was declared dead before admission.

“During investigation, it was revealed the Shah’s grandfather house had been shut for the past one month. Also, the terrace was locked,” said Waghmare. “We are now trying to find out the floor from which he jumped. We will soon interrogate his relatives, friends and his employer to find out why he ended his life.”
