Man jumps to death from 18th floor in Goregaon

According to the police, Vishal Gambhir, who was working in a private bank, had come to his residence at around 3pm and had consumed alcohol.

A 33-year-old man allegedly committed suicide on Monday evening by jumping from the 18th floor of 35-storey building in Goregaon (East). The deceased has been identified as Vishal Gambhir, who was residing on rent at in Oberai Woods Building, Goregaon (East).

According to the police, Gambhir, who was working in a private bank, had come to his residence at around 3pm and had consumed alcohol. He was with a female friend.

"Gambhir’s friend said, in her statement, that he consumed alcohol in front of her and had told her that he loved her a lot and also wanted to marry her but he could not," said Additional Commissioner of Police Ramrao Pawar of the North region.

"She also said that Gambhir was upset, saying that nothing good had happened in his life. Gambir told her that he wanted to divorce his wife," said Pawar.

"At around 6.00pm when he was talking to her, he received a call from the bank where he was working. After finishing his conversation on phone he told her that he loved her a lot and wanted to marry her” said Pawar and added, "He then came out and jumped from the balcony".

"Hearing a thud, the building's security guard and children, who were playing in park of the building rushed there. They found Gambhir in pool of blood." the police said.

Gambhir was then rushed to hospital where he was declared dead.

"We have recorded the statement of his friend and registered the accidental death report and investigation is going on," said a police officer at the Aarey police station.
