The Nationalist Congress Party city president, Vandana Chavan, said on Saturday that the party ensured the transfer of former municipal commissioner, Mahesh Zagade, as he did not serve the city well.

Asking the reporters as to what good Zagade did in his tenure, she said that as he (Zagade) could not give anything to the city, the party ensured his transfer.
Chavan said that the NCP had given a memorandum to Zagade on certain things that the party wanted the administration to do, and he did not act on it for three months.
However, the new municipal commissioner, Mahesh Pathak, has immediately acted on the same civic issues raised by the NCP. “How come the civic problems raised during Zagade’s tenure are solved now?” she said.
She said the civic administration was unresponsive to issues raised by the people’s representatives during Zagade’s tenure. “But now the administration acts fast, when the boss is good,” she said.
When pointed out that the PMC received the Nagar Ratna award for the implementation of projects under the Jawaharlal Nehru national urban renewal mission (JNNURM) under Zagade’s leadership, she said that although the civic body received maximum allocation of funds under the JNNURM, it does not mean quality work was done. Although the PMC has got the award, the projects under JNNURM were not properly planned.
Former municipal commissioner Mahesh Zagade was sent for training to Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration, Mussoorie, on April 17.
Later, while Zagade was undergoing training, senior bureaucrat Mahesh Pathak was appointed the Pune municipal commissioner by the state government.
Civic activists had alleged that the state government had sent Zagade to training to transfer him before the completion of his tenure.
