Maha Lok Adalat on Sunday

71,792 cases would be put up for hearing and disposal, says Pune district legal services authority chairman.

The Pune district legal services authority (PDLSA) will conduct Maha Lok Adalat on September 18 to dispose of 71,792 cases.
Of these 22,250 are pre-litigation cases and have been earmarked for disposal on that day itself.

The principal district judge, Anant Badar, who is also chairman of the PDLSA, told reporters that the Maha Lok Adalat will be held at all the courts across the district and the police have promised to issue notices to the litigants in this regard.

As many as 12,742 criminal cases — including those pertaining to section 138 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1938 (cheque bouncing) and 1,344 civil matters — will be put up on the board to solve the cases amicably between two parties. Also, 250 cases of land references will be heard during the one-day event.
Badar said, “5,000 toll cases and 2,500 motor vehicle accident cases respectively have been prepared to be put up in the mega event”

Along with cases in the district courts,  18,176 civil, criminal and pre-litigation cases in 10 taluka courts will also be put on the board.

Badar said, “A total of 56 panels will hear the cases and each panel will have one judge and two support staff.” The police have been instructed to make parking arrangements outside the court for visitors’ vehicles.
