Vihaan’s safe return home has brought relief and unbridled joy to the Shah family. Under severe trauma since Vihaan was abducted last week, they are now thanking the police for their swift action.

“We were in the United States, and were left completely shocked when we were told that Vihaan had been abducted. The first thing we did was to come back to India. Our joy had no bounds when we landed in the city at around 4am on Saturday, and learnt that Vihaan had been safely rescued by the police,” said Vihaan’s father Ankur, who works as a hotel manager in New York. Ankur has been working in the US for the past 11 years.

Vihaan’s mother Minati said, “We are thankful to the crime branch. They did a great job and were responsible for the safe return of Vihaan. I am happy, and have no words to express my feelings.”

Minati works as a project manager in a firm known as Commercial Tenant Services in New York.

Ninad, whose son was also victim to an attempted abduction by Sangeeta, gave credit to the crime branch. “We, as citizens, have certain wrong notions about the police; but with the way the crime branch has handled this sensitive case professionally, all my notions have been proven wrong,” he said. “We had previously taken details, such as Sangeeta’s address, since she had been working with us for the past two months, but the address provided was fake. I think it is important that we do a background check on domestic help and give their details to the police,” said Vihaan’s grandmother Neela.
