Renowned writer Vinda Karandikar will inaugurate the Marathi Sahitya Sammelan on March 25 in Pune. The three-day event will include 10 discussions, two poetry sessions, and felicitation programmes.

The spokesperson for the Sammelan, Satish Desai, said, “Next week, we will announce names of the writers and publishers who will be felicitated. We will invite writers who had written about the Samyukta Maharashtra movement 50 years ago and the freedom fighters who participated in it.”

An exhibition of books by prominent Marathi litterateurs will also be a part of the event.

The Sammelan was mired with controversy last year as its organisers held the annual event in San Francisco.

The Sammelan will use technology to reach out to a larger audience this year. “It is too early to give details; however, this time there will be an effort to use high technology, and we will try to reach out to Marathis across the globe. Our committee will take the decisions when it meets,” said Manohar Mhaisalkar, organiser of the Vidarbha Sahitya Sammelan.
