IB sleuths to keep eye on Chhota Shakeel's father's funeral

Apart from the local police, intelligence agencies including the RAW and IB, will be keeping a watch on the possible presence of underworld members at the funeral of gangster Chhota Shakeel’s father on Saturday.  

Shakeel’s father, who was ailing for the last few years, died at his home in Dongri on Friday afternoon. He resided at Ismail building of the Tembkar area in Dongri.

According to central intelligence agency sources, there will be plainclothes officers who will move around during the funeral. The sleuths suspect that members from the Dawood Ibrahim and Chhota Shakeel gang may attend it. 

The sources said sleuths and the intelligence agencies always use occasions like marriages and deaths in gangsters’ families to snoop on the gang members who come to attend them. “Also it’s a good way of intelligence gathering,” the sources added. 
The police, however, say that it is unlikely that Shakeel will visit Mumbai for the last rites of his father.    

Chhota Shakeel, who has been associated with Dawood Ibrahim since long, is among the most wanted man in India. He is believed to have been holed up at Karachi and he runs an illegal syndicate of extortion and counterfeit Indian currencies. He is also said to be involved in film music piracy business and had himself claimed to have funded many big budget Bollywood films.
