“In the past five years, our area has completely changed. Towers have come up in the area. First I could not believe it, but when my son showed them to me through the ambulance window, I stared at the structures in disbelief,” said Nazir Abdul Ahmed Rehman on his way to hospital for a bariatric surgery.

“Everything for me is unbelievable. In just two days, things have changed. And the credit goes to the doctors who came ahead to treat me,” said Rehman, who was admitted to the Breach Candy Hospital on Sunday.

On Friday, Breach Candy bariatric surgeon had visited Rehman’s house for basic examination.

Rehman had left his job as an accountant five years ago because of his weight problem and has remained bedridden since then. He cannot stand for even a minute. He has also developed complications like gout, leading to severe pain in the joints.

“I am very happy because after five years, I can see people on the road. I never even thought in my dreams that I would undergo surgery at such a big hospital in which I could never even think of stepping inside. But after reports about my health appeared in the newspaper, people began calling me up. But first Samajwadi MLA Abu Azmi approached us and announced that he would bear the expenses of the treatment,” Rehman said.

“Now I am admitted to Breach Candy Hospital which is posh and lavish. My room has an attached with TV. I just pray that everything goes as per the plan,” Rehman added.
