Roshni Asrani, a standard XII commerce student of Abeda Inamdar Junior College, had a very rough examination. Her father succumbed to a prolonged illness during the exam period.

Yet, the spirited girl did not let the tragedy put her down. She gave her examinations and secured 71.3%.

A teary-eyed Roshni told DNA, “The whole month had been traumatic as I studied for the exams in the hospital with my father in front of me. Today he is not there to see this.” However, Roshni was well supported by her teachers, elder sister and mother.

“It was very difficult for me to convince Roshni to go back home and study. Hence, I told her to carry the books to the hospital.” said her mother, Geeta Asrani.

Her elder sister, Neha, who works for a private company, is delighted with the result. “I knew we would come out of it very soon and Roshni has proved it,” she beamed.

Roshni’s neighbours are in awe of her will power and determination. “She not only took care of her mother while her sister was at work but managed to do so well. We are very proud of her,” Rajendra Babar, their neighbour for eight years said.

In order to augment the home income and gain work experience, Roshni has started working part time and wishes to help her sister manage the house.

Roshni plans to do a BCom, followed by an MBA.
