Four held in fake currency racket

Crime Branch officers on Tuesday busted a fake currency racket and arrested four people.

Pramod Kumar Srivastav alias Khushwa, 37, Nityanand Shetty, 37, Narnaram Purohit, 25, and Kuldeep Sharma, 20, have already circulated fake notes worth Rs45lakh in the city over the past six months.

“Ismail and Rajesh Purohit who are now in Nepal got fake notes from Pakistani nationals and passed it on to these men in Mumbai,” police inspector Dinesh Ahire said. Police have seized fake notes worth Rs1,27,500 of Rs1,000 and Rs500 denominations from them.

Investigations are on.
