The Bund Garden police have booked a retired assistant commissioner of police (ACP) for allegedly creating a scene outside the police commissioner’s office and manhandling a police constable posted at the main gate of the office on Friday morning.

The incident took place at 6.15 am, when retired ACP Dashrath Kusale had gone to the commissionerate to lodge a complaint regarding his son Rahul Kusale’s arrest following the latter’s argument with security officials of a five-star hotel in Koregaon Park.

According to the Bund Garden police, on Thursday night, Rahul and some of his friends had gone to the hotel to celebrate his birthday, where he allegedly had a spat with hotel’s security personnel over security checks.

According to the police, Rahul allegedly started arguing with the beat marshals and told them that he was the son of a police officer. Later, he was taken to the Bund Garden police station where a non-cognisable (NC) complaint against him was registered.

Rahul then called up his father, Dashrath Kusale, who rushed to the police station in the wee hours. But the constable posted there, Atul Gogawale, told him that at that time, no senior officer would be there to help him. Kusale then allegedly manhandled the constable and snatched his register as well. When contacted, Kusale said, “I and my son have been falsely implicated in the case and I will meet the commissioner to discuss the issue.’’

He said, “I had gone to the police commissionerate at 6.15 am to check the status of Rahul’s complaint and also wanted to lodge a complaint against the Bund Garden police. I also wanted to meet police inspector, Sampat Patil, who is in charge of the control room. But he refused to meet me; so I enrolled my name in the register and left.’’
