The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) and Sai Realtors received a setback when a city court rejected the plea filed by the latter challenging a civil suit filed by a farmers’ family.
Chhagan Burde and his family filed a civil case against Umesh Gautam Mane, owner of Sai Realtors; advocate Rajendra Jagtap; the PCMC; and others for using their land for a sewage treatment plant (STP) project without their knowledge.

The Burdes own 4.69 hectares in Mouje Charholi. Speaking to DNA, advocate Manoj Nayak, who represented the Burdes, said in 2007, two agentsintroduced Chhagan and Shankar Burde, both  brothers to Mane as he wanted to develop 0.47 ares  of their land. He agreed to pay Rs5 lakh each to both brothers.

The Burdes agreed to give power of attorney and signed a development agreement with Mane through Jagtap. But they were not given the documents to read, Nayak said.

In 2008, Burde came to know that the STP project was coming up on their land.

Sai Realtors moved the court seeking rejection of the suit on December 5, 2011.

But the court was satisfied with the arguments by advocate Manoj Nayak made on behalf of Burdes, and rejected application on December 21.
