Six-year-old Karnit Shah, who was kidnapped on April 6 and rescued on April 20, and three friends of the same age, braved an identification parade and identified Karnit’s alleged kidnapper Sameer Khan at the Thane Central Prison.

The Kandivli police who are investigating the case, have gathered nine eyewitnesses, apart from Karnit himself. The eyewitnesses include three of Karnit’s friends who are between 6-8 years old and had seen the main culprit.

“During investigations, we found that three children from Karnit’s society had seen Khan several times  before the kidnapping incident. The children would  play regularly within the society premises and Khan would give chocolates to them,” said assistant police inspector, LG Shinde of Kandivli police station.

“We are happy that the children were brave and identified the accused. This will bolster our case,” said Shinde.
“Other eyewitnesses include two women residing in the society, a watchman of the building and a shopkeeper from a nearby shop where Khan purchased chocolates and a ball for Karnit,” added Shinde. Another woman from Nalasopara, a resident of the building where Karnit was kept for three days immediately after his abduction, too has been made an eyewitness in the case.
So has the driver of the vehicle in which Karnit was brought from Nalasopara to Nashik by road.

“All the nine eye-witnesses have identified the three accused — Sameer Khan, Sandeep Warose and Sujit Kumar Bind,” Shinde said.
