Officers of the Anti-extortion cell of the Mumbai Police nabbed Amrit Ratilal Patel alias Yogesh, 25, while he was extorting money from Parmar’s nephew. During interrogation, he confessed to the crime and said that he did it on behalf of his boss Bengali.
According to sources in the anti-extortion cell, Sanju, a partner in a video parlour near Kaka Bar at Malad (East), along with Ravi Gawli and Vijay, conspired to threaten Parmar’s nephew for extortion. When Tarannum was arrested, Bengali contacted the owner of Om Palace dance bar, from where Tarannum had started her career as a bar girl and also met Tarannum’s mother at the same bar.
Sanjay told her that with his good influence in the police department, he would get Tarannum released safely, if she is willing to spend money. When Pradeep Parmar sacked his driver Vikas, the latter informed Sanjay about the porn CD. Vikas stole the CD and delivered it to Sanjay. Thereafter they tried to blackmail Parmar. But a dispute arose about sharing the money and the complainant Nilesh Chodankar came to know about this episode.
Earlier Sanjay Bengali was working with Dashrath Rane of gangster Amar Naik’s gang. But when Sunil Sawant alias Savatya murdered Rane, he joined Chilva and Yeda Pakya of Arun Gawli gang.
