Engineering teachers across the state will receive industrial training to make classroom teaching more effective and practical.

The teachers will be introduced to machines in the industries to update them with modern industrial trends and needs.

The Maharashtra State Board of Technical Education (MSBTE) will conduct the 10 day-industrial training programme at the Government college of Engineering, Amravati, where selected representatives from each college will be trained by professionals from industry. The programme, from January 23 to February 4, is sponsored by the All India Council for Technical Education.

“The teacher training programmes are conducted to upgrade the course contents. Industry needs keep changing with introduction of developed technologies. To train all students at the industry would be impossible. If teachers are updated with emerging trends and technologies of the industry, they can impart the knowledge to students,” said Dr PM Khodke, director MSBTE.

The programme, conducted with help from Industry Institute Partnership Cell (IIPC) of the MSBTE, will concentrate on different engineering streams individually.

“Under the IIPC, we have good relations with industry stalwarts such as Tata, Reliance and L&T which help in keeping the academia and industry connected,” told Khodke.
