Traffic congestion, collection of garbage, hawkers menace, and water supply were topmost on the minds of residents at DNA’s My Locality, My Voice campaign at SPN Doshi Women’s College in Ghatkopar (W) on Saturday.

The idea of the campaign is to create awareness about the 2012 civic elections to address issues that cause much trouble to the residents. The campaign which was organised in N ward on Saturday will be taken to other parts and suburbs of the city in the run up to the civic polls.

After interacting with the public representatives, citizens were of the opinion that such events should be held at the regular intervals to address the public grievances and contribute to the development of the city.

“I am sincerely thankful to DNA for initiating such an event and giving a platform to the citizens and public representatives to discuss various issues faced by us,” said Asish Mehta, a Ghatkopar resident adding that such events enable the citizens to raise their voices.

Citizens from all age groups actively participated in the event, questioning the corporators. Some of the residents suggested that all the stakeholders including ward officials, traffic police should also participate in such events.
