A 21-year-old delivery boy with a diamond trading firm at DB Marg had mysteriously gone missing on November 17.

The next day, his dead body was found in Panchgani.

Even diamonds worth Rs1.25 crore, which Dheerubhai Moradia was to deliver, are missing, police sources said.

On November 17, at 5pm, Moradia, who lived in Poonam Autumn building in Poonam Nagar at Virar (West), left office with diamonds worth Rs2crore. He was to deliver them to four clients.

When he did not return home by night, his brother lodged a missing person’s complaint with the DB Marg police.

“Investigations revealed that Moradia had delivered diamonds to three clients. But, the fourth client did not get his diamonds worth Rs1.25crore. The next day, we learnt that Moradia’s body has been found in Panchgani,” said an officer from DB Marg police station.

“A local had found the body near a nullah at Bhilar waterfall. His throat was slit after he was strangulated. It looked like the body was thrown out of a moving vehicle,” said senior police inspector Rajendra Bokade of the Panchgani police.

The body’s post-mortem was conducted at a local government hospital.

“We found Moradia’s identity card bearing his photograph and number of the company. We contacted his office and informed them about his death. Later, we also communicated with the DB Marg police in this regard,” said Bokade.
