Custody death report clear

Following the mysterious death of 24-year-old Sachin Khopkar at RCF area on Thursday night, the victim’s family alleged that Khopakar was beaten to death by the police. But the city police claimed that the medical report stated there were no injury marks on the body and that there is no foul play to the incident.

According to Rajneesh Seth, a joint commissioner of police, law and order, Khopkar was playing cards with his friends near his locality at night hours. “Beat marshals from the RCF police station were on night patrol duty when they spotted two to three youths at a secluded spot, when Khopkar’s friends ran away on seeing the police. When police went there they found a youth lying unconscious. He was taken to the hospital where he was declared dead before admission,” said Seth.

Khopkar’s family learnt about his death on Friday, after which they alleged that Khopkar was beaten to death by the police.

“The medical report clearly states that there were no internal injury marks on Khopkar’s body. Khopkar was also having a hole in the heart and we believe that he would have succumbed due to some trauma after which he became unconscious. There was no foul play to the incident,” said Seth.
