The Mumbai police are looking for two more men, including the man who pulled the trigger to kill two police informers in broad daylight at Kala Ghoda, on October 16.

The two absconders have been identified as Suraj Shetty and Vishal. According to a source, their names cropped up when the police were interrogating Rahul Khan alias Osama,  Zafar Khan alias Malik, Nehalkumar Singh and Nirajkumar Valmiki, who were arrested on Saturday.

Osama and Malik allegedly admitted that they had planned the Kala Ghoda shootout with Shetty and Vishal in which they killed Amjad Khan and Himanshu Chowdhary, former Chhota Rajan gang members. They said that Singh and Valmiki were not involved in that case.

A police source said that on October 16, Osama, Zafar and Vishal took a taxi from Chheda Nagar at Chembur and headed towards Kala Ghoda. As soon as they reached Kala Ghoda, another associate, Raju, who was present at the Sessions Court, called Zafar.

As soon as Amjad and Himanshu arrived at Kala Ghoda’s main road junction, Zafar fired the first shot at Amjad and then Vishal opened fire, killing Himanshu. The trio then ran towards the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus station and boarded a Chembur local.

“The accused were in the city until October 22, and then they left for Allahabad,” said a police official, on condition of anonymity. “Osama and Zafar returned to the city after 15 days with an assignment to eliminate a businessman with Shetty and Vishal, but we nabbed them.”

The police also seized eight mobile phones, with SIM cards from Allahabad, Lucknow and Varanasi.

Osama claims to be the Allahabad president of the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI). He has been involved in at least six cases of attempted murder, rioting and illegal arms possession in UP. “We are trying to verify his affiliation with NSUI,” said Additional Commissioner of Police (West Region) Bipin Bihari.

The police are collaborating with the Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force. The accused have been remanded in  custody until December 22.
