A police constable’s hopes of participating in a reality show seem to be stalled, all because of a no-objection certificate.

Even after running from pillar to post for three months, his application is still stuck at Mantralaya.

When Anjum Yusuf Pinjari, 35, got a confirmation by the organisors to participate in Sach Ka Saamna - Season II, he thought he had a bright chance to win Rs1 crore.

In the controversial reality show, a participant has to go through a polygraph test and answer questions.

Some police officers said that any revelation made by the constable on national television might land the department in a soup.

Pinjari, posted at the Azad Maidan police station, has been working with the police department for 16 years.  “I got a confirmation letter from the organisors asking me to participate in their show. They wanted a NoC from the police department,” he said.

Since then, Pinjari has been doing the rounds to get a NoC from the police department and Mantralaya.

The police department had asked him many questions, including whether Pinjari had come into any contract or agreement with show organisors and whether he had received any amount to participate in the show.

“In my application to the department, I had replied to all their queries. I have also mentioned in my application that if an uncomfortable question is asked during the show on my profession, I would quit the show. I have not yet got any response from the department. My application is pending in Mantralaya,” said Pinjari.

Joint commissioner of police, administration, SP Yadav said, “The police department has no issues with anyone participating in any show. The final authority to give permission is the government.”
