The Deonar police have recovered the skeletal remains of a young man in his mid-20s from a dumping ground near Mankhurd highway on Thursday. Police say the dead man, Bangalore-based Kamal (no last name), had returned from Dubai earlier this year.

Police sub inspector Shrikant Desai says his murder probably took place six months ago. "Four days ago, we arrested Ashraf Shaikh, a resident of Deonar, and he confessed to the murder on Thursday," he says. Police say Kamal's dream was to buy a house in the city and start a business. He had just come to Mumbai after working in Dubai for a number of years.

"When he came back to Mumbai, he met his friend, Sohail (no last name), and stayed at his house," a police source says.

"Sohail called the 30-year-old Ashraf to his house in Sathe Nagar where they cold-bloodedly murdered Kamal and buried his body at a dumping ground nearby." Senior police inspector KA Shaikh refused to divulge more details about the case, saying it would jeopardise the investigation.
The prime accused, Sohail, 25, is still absconding, and the have launched a manhunt to nab him. Meantime, the city police has been in touch with the Bangalore police to notify the deceased family.

"Since the prime accused is at large, we do not know much about the deceased background or his family," inspector Shaikh says. The police have registered a case of murder under Sections 301 and 302 of the IPC. Kamal's remains have been sent to the Rajwadi Coroner's office on Thursday. Plans are underway to send the body to the forensic lab at Kalina.

A police team is going to Agra to look for Sohail, while.another team is going to Bangalore to locate Kamal's relatives.
