Commuters on the Western Railway (WR) experienced slow trains and slower entry/exit at stations on Thursday as motormen resorted to a “go slow” agitation to protest the suspension of one of their colleagues on Wednesday.

Motorman Kiran Chaudhari was suspended after he overshot a red signal at Virar. “It is also up to the guards  to see the red signal. But these rules have been changed on WR and motormen have been held solely responsible. This is not fair,’’ said a member of the WR Motormen’s Association.

WR spokesperson Sharat Chandrayan said they were working on an amicable solution to resolve the issue.
