Cocktail drink kills one, friend held in Mumbai

A cocktail drink led to the death of a teenager, as his friend made him drink a beer mixed with narcotics powder. The friend claims that he was unaware that this would lead to death.

According to the police, on February 9, Ajay Singh, 18 and his friend Rakesh Singh, 20, had gone to Kamathipura, where they drank beer.

“Although Singh drank, he never consumed drugs. However, Rakesh persuaded him to try a cocktail and then gave him a drink mixed with a drug,” said Rajendra Chavan,  senior police inspector, VP Road police station.

He added that, Singh became unconscious and was rushed to the hospital, where he was declared dead before admission. Rakesh has been remanded to police custody till February 24.
