There was chaos at Kurla station after a booking clerk in Kurla (East) was beaten up. Clerks gathered and shut down all ticket windows from 3.40pm to 5.55pm on Sunday, leaving commuters in a lurch. “There were problems with the Unreserved Ticketing System computers and printers when the booking clerk Surendra Bunawane requested the public to use railway coupons instead,” said Central Railway spokesperson Ashok Singh. “Following this, two to three people allegedly barged in the booking office and assaulted him,” Singh said. “A booking clerk is not at fault for a non-working printer. There is a complaint mechanism in place.”

An First Information Report (FIR) has been lodged against unidentified people. The police are in the process of downloading the footage from the CCTV cameras.
