CBI to quizz 3 accused: RTI activist’s murder

The court of additional sessions judge, DR Mahajan, on Wednesday granted permission to the Central Bureau of Investigation’s (CBI) Pune unit to interrogate Sham Dabhade, Dongrya Rathod and Navnath Shelar, presently lodged in Yerawada Cental Prison, in connection with murder case of RTI activist, Satish Shetty.

The special public prosecutor of CBI, Ayub Pathan, moved an application before the court which was granted.
Recently, the CBI Pune took over investigations into the Shetty murder case from the CBI, Mumbai office, following an order from the Bombay high court.

The additional superintendent of police, SP Singh, is probing the case. Speaking to DNA, Pathan said, “The CBI, submitting its say on the bail application filed by Sham Dabhade, told the court that there is substantial evidence against Dabhade and requested it to reject the bail plea.’’

Shetty was murdered near his residence at Talegaon Dabhade on the morning of January 13 last year. The other arrested suspects are lawyer Vijay Dabhade and his clerk Pramod Waghmore. The case has been deferred till September 22.
