State-owned fuel retailer, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL), has automated 67 of its 81 outlets in Pune district, to enable both customers and company officials track any deviation in the sale of fuel by staff. It would also help customers get quick service with instant billing.

BPCL also launched ‘Pure for sure (PFS) Platinum’ as part of its enhanced customer service at five outlets in Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad.

Apart from automation service, these five outlets will operate round the clock, be under closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera surveillance and have refreshment, toilet and air facilities.

These outlets include Jaihind Highway Services (Chinchwad), Mittali Service Station (Sinhagad Road), Bharat Petroleum Depot (Navi Peth), Kawde Petroleum (BT Kawade Road) and DJ Petroleum (Badhe Chowk, Kondhwa-Katraj bypass).

The general manager (retail) western region, KH Subramanian, told reporters on Monday that the automated service has been launched in the 67 outlets where the monthly sale of fuel is 200 kilolitres. “By the end of this financial year, seven more outlets in Pune district would be automated and the rest would be done in the next financial year,” he said.

The oil major has invested about Rs7 lakh in each outlet to provide this automated service, from the moment a dealer receives the product from the company tankers till it is delivered to the consumer. “There is seamless integration of fuelling with billing. Every transaction is captured, stored and can be tracked by the company officials and the owner of the outlet,” a company official said.

According to Subramanian, customers would benefit as they need not wait for their credit/debit cards to be swiped at the outlet. “The transaction would be wholly transparent,” he added.

Subramanian said that even fuel tankers have been linked to the vehicle tracking system that keeps an eye on the fuel transportation from company installations to the retailers. “The possibility of adulteration is entirely ruled out, since both the retailer and the company monitors the movement of vehicles constantly,” he said.
