After a week-long treatment for acute chest infection at Sancheti Hospital, Anna Hazare will be discharged on Sunday morning with advice for bed rest for a month.

“He has recovered from the infection and his fever, cough and other symptoms have gone. He is fit for discharge from the hospital. However, he is advised one month’s bed rest and no fasting,” said Dr Parag Sancheti, chairman of Sancheti Hospital.

On December 31, Anna had shifted from his hometown Ralegan Siddhi in Ahmednagar district to the city on the advice of doctors.

“We have advised him light physiotherapy at home. His course of antibiotics is now over though some medication is to be taken at home for a while. We are also giving him Vitamin B3 injections though we dropped the initial plan of giving him influenza vaccines as he didn’t require them,” said Sancheti.

On Friday, Hazare’s chest X-rays and blood tests were normal after which the decision for discharge was taken.

Sancheti said a team of doctors would go to Ralegan Siddhi next week for reviewing Anna’s health. On Sunday, Hazare will address the media at 8.30 am after the hospital discharges him before leaving for his village.
