A thirty-eight-year-old advocate was arrested by the Malad police on Sunday for allegedly making forged documents of stolen vehicles and selling them in other cities. The accused has been identified as Shrikant Mishra. Mishra said in his statement to police that he practiced in the high court.

According to police, the complainant, Vivek Sarwadhi, a Malad-resident said in his complaint that he saw his stolen motorbike parked in a garage at Malad (west). He recognised the bike as he had put sticker on the engine which was not removed. Mishra has changed the registration number and put the registration number of Uttar Pradesh RTO.

“The complainant was sure that it was his bike so he checked the documents
under the seat cover and found they were in his name. Sarwadhi then approached Malad police and lodged a complaint” said sub-inspector Manohar Harpude of the Malad police station.

"Police then went to the garage and found that the bike was used by Mishra. On arriving at Mishra’s house, they were shocked to find several forged documents of five cars and three motorbikes," said Harpude.

"There were also several blank driving licenses found at Mishra's residence," said Harpude.

"In the inquiry we also found that Mishra has already arrested twice by the Malad police in a cheating case. As of now we have not found his law certificate. Mishra told he has done law from Jaunpur, Uttar Pradesh" said another officer.

"The investigation is going on and it appears that Mishra could be the part of gang who steal vehicles and sells them in other state, with his job entailing the forgery of documents” said the police officer.
