Six unidentified men allegedly attacked social activist Agnelo Fernandes and his staff and vandalised his office on Sunday afternoon. Fernandes alleged that the attack was ordered by Chintu Shaikh after the former refused to file a false police complaint against Nitesh Rane.

According to Fernandes, at around 2.30pm, around six men armed with sticks and choppers barged into his office situated behind Mahim Featherlight Cinema. They allegedly attacked Fernandes and two other staffers present.

One of the staffers had to get six stitches. The miscreants fled after the attack. Fernandes further alleged that a similar attack took place at his office around 12.30am that same day. However, nobody was hurt in that attack.

Fernandes alleged that Shaikh was pressuring him to file a case against Nitesh Rane and give a police statement saying that Rane was trying to kidnap him. Fernandes alleged that Shaikh wanted him to make a false case against Rane, which the former denied.

Fernandes further alleged that after he refused to lodge a false complaint against Rane, he was threatened with dire consequences. Fernandes said that the attacks were ordered by Shaikh and the goons belonged to him. Fernandes later approached Mahim police station to lodge a complaint against Shaikh and six others.
