7 people, 2 minors arrested for killing local RPI leader

Navghar police in Bhayandar east on Friday arrested seven people and detained two minors for allegedly killing the local RPI leader Dilip Ingale.

According to police the arrested have been identified as  Dhiraj Patil,26, Shailesh Kharwar,31, Dhanraj Gangurde,19, Ravi Tagde,19, and Vijay alias Gabbar Singh,19. All are residents of Indira nagar slum. Police have also detained Vivek Torde,17 and Dharmendra Gupta,12, for their involvement in the crime.

Dilip Ingale was brutally murdered in the wee hours of December 31 outside his house in Indira nagar. Police recovered two steel knives, iron rods and one axe from the arrested. They have also seized the auto used to carry out the crime.

Speaking to DNA, Dinkar Pingale, senior inspector of Navghar police station, said that the deceased and the accused were had been rivals for last 3 years.

Many cross complaints had been filed in Navghar and Mira road police stations. On December 31 one of the accused called Ingale and asked him to come out of his house. When Ingale stepped out the others, who were hiding, attacked him with weapons.

The arrested were produced before Thane Sessions court while the minors involved were produced in the juvenile court. Sub inspector A Barge is investigating this case.
