A gang of five teenagers used to steal motorcycles, go for a joy ride and abandon them when they ran out of fuel. The teens were arrested on Tuesday and the police recovered two stolen bikes, a red Passion and Bajaj CC 100 from them.

“All of them are residents of Tulsiwadi at Tardeo. Among them is a 17-year-old mechanic,” said inspector Deepak Patil.

The teenagers used to steal bikes parked on the roadside in Tardeo and surrounding areas.

The mechanic, the brain behind the crime, said he and his four aides loved speeding bikes. The teenager said he had learnt the technique of starting the bike without a key. They never sold the bikes.

On Tuesday, the police intercepted the five riding two bikes on Tardeo Road. They were unable to produce driving licences and documents of the bikes. Later, they confessed that they had stolen the bikes, said Patil.
