Swati Gharat, an Uran resident, passed Bachelor of Arts degree from the Mumbai University in 2001. She just got her her convocation certificate, full of mistakes — from her name on the certificate to the name of the course that she passed in and also the year in which she passed.

“It has to be re-done now. When my name and all the required details were correctly mentioned on the application for convocation certificate as well as several other documents were provided for them to get it right, yet how could they make a mistake like changing my parents’ names?” asked ab irate Gharat, who is now married.

Gharat’s father’s name is Motiram but on the certificate it mentions Manohar in Marathi script. At the same time, Gharat’s mother’s name is changed to Suman from Jayashree in the Marathi script. While she graduated in BA (Economics), the Marathi script on the certificate mentions, “Manavya Vidya Snatak” i.e Humanity Science. However, interestingly, all the details are mentioned correctly in English language script.

“I have passed the exam that was conducted in October 2001, but the certificate everywhere mentions that the exam was conducted in 2006,” said Gharat.

Prof Vaibhav Naravade, a senior senate member, commented, “Delay in getting the convocation certificate is not an issue, as it is allotted to a candidate only after required application.”
Gharat had applied for the certificate around six months ago.
