A woman killed her three-year-old daughter with the help of her paramour after being denied divorce by her husband. The accused duo were arrested by Valiv police on Saturday after the autopsy report revealed signs of gruesome torture on the deceased's body, including burn marks.
The victim's father — a 30-year-old Dhanivbaugh resident — remained busy with work, while the mother (26) was in an extra marital relationship with a 29-year-old man.

"The mother was unhappy with the husband and demanded divorce which was turned down. She then took her daughter to her boyfriend's house where the duo tortured her," said a Valiv police official.
"The girl was not given proper food and was branded with hot spoons and cigarette butts. Sadly, no one could come to her rescue. Following her death, the woman rushed to the police station with a story saying the girl fell down leading to injuries. Due to this we registered a case of accidental death and started investigation," added the official.
However, the autopsy report revealed a totally different story. "Following the report, we arrested the accused duo, who confessed to the crime," said Pravin Nimbalkar, investigating officer of the case.
"We have arrested them under Sections 302 (murder) and 34 (common intent) of the Indian Penal Code. They have been remanded to police custody till September 10," said Nimbalkar.
