One dead in building collapse in Ulhasnagar

A slab of an Ulhasnagar building collapsed on Friday evening killing a 62-year-old man and injuring his son.

Manoharlal Kamaria, 62, died in the incident while his son Vinod was injured.

The Ulhasnagar Municipal Corporation rushed its fire brigade to the spot to evacuate the residents of the Sindhi Sagar building in Ulhasnagar.

“We have evacuated the building and we are checking the records to ascertain if the building was given evacuation notice,” said a senior civic official.

The police teams along with locals gathered to help the residents of the building as they pulled them out to safety.

“A vehicle which was parked on the ground floor was damaged due to the impact of the collapsing structure,” said local resident Madhu Keswani.
