Catching up with the ongoing trend, Meru, the radio taxi service, has announced the introduction of mobile wallet or cash-free travel. This is apart from the facility of locating the nearest available cab using GPS.

On Tuesday morning, it introduced features like one-touch booking, tracking the cab, mobile wallet and booking a week in advance.

Customers will have to register and load money into the app using credit or debit cards or through net banking. This amount can later be used with a click of a button from the app to make payments for their journey undertaken.

Ola cabs as well as Uber cabs have already announced and introduced mobile wallet.

"We have seen an increase in adoption of smart phones and we understand how a good cab app makes the travel experience enjoyable," said Siddhartha Pahwa, chief executive officer of Meru.
