Around 126 people were injured in this year's Dahi Handi celebrations, with 34 among them being kept under observation. Despite the Supreme Court ruling, a sizeable number of minors were brought in to city hospitals with fractures and other injuries. No casualties were reported his year. Earlier in the day, KEM dean and director of medical education and large hospitals Avinash Supe said, "We have reserved 10 beds in each of the major hospitals — Sion, Nair, KEM and JJ — for the injured. Five beds have been reserved at each of the peripheral hospitals."

As the day went by, patients kept streaming in. Some were like Kailash Bhole of the Blue Star Govinda Mandal in Chembur's Lokhande Marg, whose wife berated him as he was being wheeled in Rajawadi Hospital in Ghatkopar. Despite the Supreme Court order against minors being allowed to form human pyramids, the injured being brought to hospitals showed a different reality. There were many like 13-year-old Sahil Patekar from Matunga; he was brought to Sion hospital with a head injury. Fourteen-year-old Maanav Rathod from came to KEM hospital in Parel had a fractured arm. "It was my first time. I did not think I would fall down. I was confident," he said.

Worli Koliwada's Anshul Saroj (10), on the other hand, was rushed to the KEM hospital after he sustained a hip injury; his friend Ayush Pusalkar sustained a head injury and was seen vomiting blood after the fall. KEM hospital alone saw five children being brought in.
