Following the murder of 27-year old Shiv Sena worker Ramesh Jadhav at Dindoshi on October 20, the locals and party leaders on Friday announced a financial help of Rs 2 lakh for the family of the deceased. A major law and order situation that had taken place after the murder had forced the police to call for a peace meeting that day.

"MLAs Sunil Prabhu and Atul Bhatkhalkar announced financial help of Rs 1 lakh to the family of the deceased and also appealed citizens to come forward. On this appeal, members from various minority class generously contributed and the help reached to Rs 2 lakh. Ex-MLA Ghosalkar declared that his party would bear the educational expenses of both the kids of Jadhav," said a police officer.

According to the police, Jadhav, a resident of Baban Jadhav Chawl, Khot Kuva Road in Malad (E), was murdered by five people, all residents of the same area. As the news spread, a large mob gathered on Rani Sati Marg and demanded immediate arrest of all the accused.

Dindoshi police took the men into custody within eight hours. As all the arrested persons belonged to one particular community, political parties came together and jointly protested the murder of the young party Sena worker, police said.

Additional commissioner of police, north region, Kishore Jadhav directed deputy commissioner Punjabrao Ugle to call for a peace committee meeting. Accordingly a meeting was organised at Parekh hall on Friday at Dindoshi. Prominent members from society and political parties were present in the meeting, including ex- Shiv Sena MLA Vinod Ghosalkar.
