The husband who saw the gang of youth raping his wife demanded death penalty for the accused. The angry locals, however, want the families of the accused to leave the area as they fear of similar incidents after the youths are out on bails as they are habitual offenders.

The locals from the Shyam Nagar slums were confused at first when they saw police in large number swooping down in their slum. They managed to track the accused persons and arrested them. One of the accused Pradeep Ghagat, 23, managed to escape after learning that his friends were arrested, but was later nabbed by the sleuths.

"I did not knew they were intentionally holding me so that they could gang rape my wife. They assaulted me and when I managed to get out from the clutches of the youths, I saw my wife being exploited and they kept on hitting her with hands and legs", said victim's husband.

"The youths fled after learning that the crowd would assault them and hand them over to the police. My request to the government is that all the accused should be hanged to death as they will exploit other women too if they are let off", said the husband.

Angry locals demanded that the families of the youths should vacate their rooms, "We want families of the accused held in the case to leave this place as it is due to their upbringing that these men indulged in such acts", said Rukmini Kasare, a local resident.

"Few of them already locked their houses fearing from the locals while few are trying to get their family member out of the jail", said Kasare.

Sunil Patole, a local resident and a social worker said, "They may commit similar crimes in the locality as they habitual offenders and are bad social elements. Such people should not be spared and must be given death sentences".

"We were shocked and did not believe at first that they can gang rape a woman until the cops took them away in their vans", said Patole.
