On Tuesday, the Pune education department declared their timetable of the online admission process. BD Phadtare, the deputy director of school education on Thursday decided to launch the online portal on May 28. Through this, city students can apply for pursuing their education in junior colleges affiliated to the state board.

Phadtare spoke to dna, saying that on May 26, the department will receive the handbook for distribution in schools and colleges in the city. "They will be distributed to students and parents on May 27. We have even uploaded them on our website (www.dydemumbai.org) for students to view," he added.

The deputy director also said that students wishing to apply must 'read the handbook' carefully prior to filling out the forms. It includes information on colleges that offer courses in Arts, Science and Commerce streams, and even bifocal institutes.

The handbook extensively covers the rules regarding the online admission process, fee structure, documents to be submitted at the time of admission, procedure to be followed after the applicant's name appears in the merit list, percentage of constitutional and special reservations in minority and non-minority institutes, list of guidance centres in Mumbai metropolitan region, sample application forms, code numbers of colleges, address of the respective competent authority for sports, arts and culture, and contact details of education department offices.

Phadtare also said: "We will take pre-admission data of the students from all the boards. Students can fill their basic details in part-I once the portal will be opened."
